She is most often depicted holding bread and roses in her arms.\u00a0Even in my childhood, this miracle of hers appealed to me.\u00a0I sat under her statue and imagined how she boldly walked to the poor, gave away, took care of them, and God helped her in this.\u00a0When needed, he turned the bread into roses to protect her so she could do even more good.\u00a0Even in today&#8217;s gospel, we see a parallel in generosity about\u00a0the fact that our task is to be like Elizabeth.\u00a0Not to collect but to give away.<\/span><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today we commemorate the feast of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary.\u00a0A woman who perfectly fulfilled the meaning of her name &#8211; the origin of her name is Elizabeta, and means &#8220;God is generous.&#8221;.
