search for God."},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 1.8em;\">There are many spiritual paths available to us today. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 1.8em;\">Everyone has a certain idea of \u200b\u200bthe &#8220;ideal&#8221; god.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 1.8em;\">Maybe we think he should be powerful, able to relate to us, or caring.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 1.8em;\">Finding the right God with a capital &#8220;B&#8221; can be tricky.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 1.8em;\">So what should we decide?<\/span><\/h5>\n<div class=\"entry-content clear\">\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">I would like to present to you the criteria that I took into account when looking, and I will also state the reasons why I finally chose the God of the Bible.<\/h2>\n<h2>Principle no.\u00a01: Seek a god who is greater than we humans<\/h2>\n<div class=\"articlephotodiv\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"articlephoto entered lazyloaded aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.everystudent.sk\/pics4\/whypick1b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"368\" height=\"354\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.everystudent.sk\/pics4\/whypick1b.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">There is no doubt that humanity has made great strides in recent years.\u00a0Thanks to advanced technology, we can live longer than our ancestors, fly at supersonic speeds, and be anywhere in the world with a single tap of a computer key.\u00a0But while we are making progress in some ways, we seem to be falling behind in many others.\u00a0The number of violent crimes, divorces, and teenage suicides are still increasing.\u00a0Thousands of people become infected with HIV every day.\u00a0Hundreds of millions of people are experiencing chronic hunger.<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Unfortunately, this list could go on.\u00a0If we humans are god, then we don&#8217;t seem to be doing too well.\u00a0So wouldn&#8217;t it be better to have a god who is bigger than humanity and who can take us further than we can go on our own?<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The God described in the Bible is just that.\u00a0He claims to be the Creator of the universe &#8211; a transcendent, omniscient, omnipotent being who has always existed and who also sustains everything.\u00a0<em>&#8220;I created the earth and created man on it.\u00a0I stretched out the heavens with my own hands and gave orders to all their armies.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>1\u00a0<\/sup><em>&#8220;I am God, and there is no other God, and there is no one like me.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>2<\/sup><\/h2>\n<h2>Principle no.\u00a02: Look for a god you can get to know personally<\/h2>\n<div class=\"articlephotodiv\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"articlephoto entered lazyloaded aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.everystudent.sk\/pics4\/whypick2b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"386\" height=\"371\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.everystudent.sk\/pics4\/whypick2b.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nowadays it is popular to think of god as some kind of energy or all-pervading force that is present in all things.\u00a0But what is so appealing about something that is impersonal, distant, and virtually unknowable?\u00a0For example, wouldn&#8217;t it be better to have a god who is more like father or mother, sibling or friend?\u00a0As someone you can talk to, who shares your difficulties, who will guide you and with whom you will live your life?<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The God of the Bible is unimaginably great and &#8220;different&#8221;, yet it is possible to know him.\u00a0Even though he is not visible, we can talk to him, ask him, and listen to him, and he will give us answers and guidance for our lives.<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">A person can have the same relationship with God as with a close family member.\u00a0God calls those who know him his children, his bride, his friends.\u00a0He is not impersonal.\u00a0We can know more than facts about him, for we can know him intimately as our best friend.\u00a0<em>&#8220;And eternal life consists in knowing you, the only true God, and the one you sent, Jesus Christ.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>2<\/sup><\/h2>\n<h2>Principle no.\u00a03: Seek a god who understands human life<\/h2>\n<div class=\"articlephotodiv\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"articlephoto entered lazyloaded aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.everystudent.sk\/pics4\/whypick3b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"431\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.everystudent.sk\/pics4\/whypick3b.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some imagine a god as distant\u2014as someone who created the universe but then left it to function on its own.\u00a0But wouldn&#8217;t it be better if he were involved in everything that happens on Earth?\u00a0Wouldn&#8217;t it be better if he could understand our problems and worries and know what life is like in this unkind world?<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The God of the Bible knows what it means to be one of us.\u00a0Jesus Christ was not only the Son of God, but also God who took on human form and human nature.\u00a0<em>&#8220;In the beginning was the Word [Jesus], the Word was with God, and the Word was God.\u00a0And the Word became flesh [man] and dwelt among us.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><sup>4<\/sup><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Bible says about God&#8217;s Son:\u00a0<em>&#8220;The Son is the brightness of God&#8217;s glory and the image of his substance.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>5<\/sup>\u00a0He is\u00a0<em>&#8220;the image of the invisible God.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>6<\/sup>\u00a0He is\u00a0<em>&#8220;the Mighty God, the Eternal Father,&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>7<\/sup>\u00a0who\u00a0<em>&#8220;took upon himself the form of a servant and became one of men.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup><em>&#8220;In him the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>9<\/sup>\u00a0And\u00a0<em>&#8220;in him everything was created in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>10<\/sup>\u00a0Jesus directly declared about himself:\u00a0<em>&#8220;I and the Father are one.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>11<\/sup><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Jesus was fully God, but at the same time he was also fully human.\u00a0He was born into a poor family, was not physically attractive, met with prejudice and hatred, was not understood even by his family and friends, and was ultimately unjustly executed.\u00a0He was hungry and in pain, he slept, he ate, he cried.\u00a0He survived all possible physical difficulties that we also struggle with.\u00a0That is why the Bible says that Jesus is able\u00a0<em>to &#8220;sympathize with our weaknesses&#8230;(He) was tempted in all things, but did not commit sin.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>12<\/sup><\/h2>\n<h2>Principle no.\u00a04: Look for a god who really cares about you and likes you<\/h2>\n<div class=\"articlephotodiv\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"articlephoto entered lazyloaded aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.everystudent.sk\/pics4\/whypick4cauc.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"461\" height=\"444\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.everystudent.sk\/pics4\/whypick4cauc.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Most of the things we do are motivated by our desire to be loved and accepted.\u00a0We want people to be genuinely interested in us and not just give us superficial attention.\u00a0And we want concrete deeds to stand behind their interest.\u00a0Doesn&#8217;t the same apply to God?\u00a0In other words: Wouldn&#8217;t it be best if he really cared about us and also showed it to us in some tangible way?<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The biblical God is really interested in us.\u00a0The Bible directly says that\u00a0<em>&#8220;God is love.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>13<\/sup>\u00a0But these could only be empty words if they were not supported by deeds.\u00a0But he proved how much he cares for us&#8230;<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>&#8220;God&#8217;s love for us was manifested in the fact that God sent his only begotten Son into the world so that we might have life through him.\u00a0Love is that we did not love God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>14<\/sup><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since a perfect God cannot have a relationship with imperfect, sinful people, Jesus essentially died for us, in our place, so that we could be cleansed before God: &#8220;We all went astray\u00a0<em>like sheep, each one went his own way, but the Lord laid iniquities on [Jesus] all of us.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>15<\/sup><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">God cared so much about us that He sent His Son to die in our place.\u00a0Now we can experience complete forgiveness and establish an unlimited relationship with Him.<\/h2>\n<h2>Principle no.\u00a05: Look for a God who is in control<\/h2>\n<div class=\"articlephotodiv\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"articlephoto entered lazyloaded aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.everystudent.sk\/pics4\/whypick5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"467\" height=\"449\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.everystudent.sk\/pics4\/whypick5.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Don&#8217;t all the bad things that happen in the world prove that there is simply no such thing as an all-powerful god?\u00a0It doesn&#8217;t have to be that way.\u00a0Even a perfect god can sometimes allow bad things to happen as part of some higher purpose.<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The God of the Bible is just like that.\u00a0He claims that nothing on earth happens without his permission.\u00a0<em>However, this does not mean that he likes<\/em>\u00a0everything that is happening\u00a0.\u00a0He has clearly stated that some things are bad, some things make him sad.\u00a0For some reason he allows these things to happen &#8211; perhaps because these bad things are part of the free will we have as human beings.\u00a0And if we are not to be mere puppets in God&#8217;s hands, God fully respects our free will (and allows us to hurt others, even if it does).<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, the God of the Bible has a plan and he will not stop until that plan is fulfilled.\u00a0What is this plan?\u00a0God&#8217;s ultimate goal is to dwell with people in a completely different environment than the one we live in today.\u00a0Of this future world he says:\u00a0<em>\u201cGod shall dwell with them, and they shall be his people;\u00a0he himself, their God, will be with them.\u00a0He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death, no more sorrow, no crying, and no more pain, because what was before has passed away.\u00a0Behold, I make all things new.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>16<\/sup><\/h2>\n<h2>Principle no.\u00a06: Look for a god who will give meaning to your life<\/h2>\n<div class=\"articlephotodiv\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"articlephoto entered lazyloaded aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.everystudent.sk\/pics4\/whypick6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"439\" height=\"422\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.everystudent.sk\/pics4\/whypick6.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Think of an important task or project you had to do.\u00a0When you finished it, you probably felt the satisfaction of a job well done.\u00a0Would you like the same to be said about your whole life?\u00a0To make any sense?\u00a0I don&#8217;t know about you, but I want my life to be worth living.\u00a0When I die, I want to know that I am leaving something behind, that I have done something for this world and people.<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The God of the Bible can do it.\u00a0It promises that it can also give your life meaning and fulfillment.\u00a0In a relationship with him, you can do\u00a0<em>&#8220;good deeds that God has already prepared for us in advance.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>17<\/sup><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The God of the Bible also says that in your daily relationship He can lead your life in such a way that you do what pleases Him and what is always best for you.\u00a0<em>&#8220;In all your ways acknowledge him and he himself will make your paths straight.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>18<\/sup>\u00a0This does not mean that life will suddenly be perfect and great. There will still be illnesses, problems and personal failures.\u00a0Life will not be perfect, but it will be richer.\u00a0God says that from knowing him alone flows:\u00a0<em>&#8220;love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>19<\/sup><\/h2>\n<h2>Principle no.\u00a07: Seek a god who offers true fulfillment<\/h2>\n<div class=\"articlephotodiv\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"articlephoto entered lazyloaded aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.everystudent.sk\/pics4\/whypick7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"490\" height=\"471\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.everystudent.sk\/pics4\/whypick7.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">We all want to feel that our lives are fulfilled.\u00a0Deep in our soul, we feel a thirst that wants to be quenched at any cost.\u00a0However, it seems that no matter how hard we try, earthly things such as money, possessions, romantic relationships or entertainment cannot quench this thirst.\u00a0Wouldn&#8217;t it be great if there was a God who could satisfy this thirst?<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The God of the Bible offers a life that is supremely satisfying.\u00a0Jesus said:\u00a0<em>&#8220;I have come that they may have life more abundantly.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>20<\/sup>\u00a0And he also said:\u00a0<em>&#8220;I am the bread of life.\u00a0Whoever comes to me will never hunger;\u00a0and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><sup>21<\/sup><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">So the God of the Bible promises to fulfill this inner longing, which apparently nothing else can satisfy.\u00a0That&#8217;s how he created us.<\/h2>\n<h2>The good news: SUCH A GOD EXISTS<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">In my search for the perfect God, I only came across one who met all my criteria.\u00a0He is the God described in the Bible.\u00a0He is the ideal God.<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">This article has only briefly outlined what the God of the Bible is really like.\u00a0If you want to know more about him, you can read one book of the Bible &#8211; the Gospel of John.\u00a0If you mean it honestly, wouldn&#8217;t it be logical that he himself can be known to you?\u00a0God says:\u00a0<em>&#8220;I love those who love me.&#8221;\u00a0Those who earnestly seek me find me.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><sup>22\u00a0<\/sup><em>\u201cAsk and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><sup>23<\/sup><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">You ask how it is possible to know this ideal God?\u00a0Establishing contact with him is similar to a wedding in a certain sense.\u00a0It is preceded by a decision to voluntarily enter into a certain relationship.\u00a0In the same way, in your relationship with God, it depends on you whether you decide to say your &#8220;yes&#8221; to him.<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">God does not discriminate between people.\u00a0We were all made in his image.\u00a0And no sin in your life can prevent you from entering into a relationship with him.\u00a0God dealt with the problem of sin on the cross where Jesus was crucified.\u00a0Now it is your turn to accept by faith that Jesus died for\u00a0<em>you<\/em>\u00a0, regardless of what you have done in the past.<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Do you feel God knocking on your heart?\u00a0Jesus said,\u00a0<em>\u201cBehold, I stand at the door and knock.\u00a0If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him&#8230;&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><sup>24<\/sup>\u00a0If you now want to invite this God into your life, the following prayer will help you (of course, the specific words do not matter, the sincerity of your heart is important):<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are many spiritual paths available to us today.
