St. Augustine said somewhere that Mary believed in Jesus more than she was his mother. This statement captures the spirit of Jesus’ words: Blessed are those who hear and keep the word of God, like the physical womb and breasts of the Mother of God, which received and nourished the Son of God. We can safely say that the Virgin Mary was also the most blessed of the blessed, because she listened to Jesus’ words most consistently and deeply and “kept them in her heart” and then practically acted on them. The same is true of Jesus’ “family”: those who fulfill the will of his Father in heaven are more his “mother.” And the Virgin Mary trumps everyone again…<\/span><\/p>\n
