1. God’s commandment Dear brothers and sisters! \u201cI am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. You will not have other gods except me! You will not make an idol or any form of what is up in the sky, down on the earth or in the water below the earth! You won’t be them worship or worship them! For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who punishes the iniquity of fathers in children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but mercy shows up to a thousand generations what they love and keep my commandments \u201d(Ex 20: 2-6) The First Commandment teaches us who God is: that He is one and only and does not suffer other “gods” or manifestations of religion besides himself something outside of him. His name is Lord. The Lord God expresses His exclusivity. Only me and no one else! At Isaiah, we read, \u201cI am the Lord and besides me there is no Savior. \u201d(Isaiah 43:11) Scripture expresses this exclusivity by the word\u201c jealous God, \u201d butin our time it has rather negative content. Jealousy = looking at someone as a competitive good. Woman eg. jealous at the man because his gaze has gone wrong with him and makes him a scene to insist on his exclusivity. In human jealousy it is a bit of selfishness, arrogance, but also some defense reflex. The words “I, I am the Lord” seem selfish at first sight, but they hide a double deep truth:1. God cannot bear alongside other \u201cgods\u201d, gods or idols! Here, the ‘either or’ principle applies. I mean, gods they are just dummies, they are puppets, as the psalmist writes: “For nothing is all the gods of the Gentiles, but the Lord created the heavens!”96.5). There is no other god besides God. There are no two divine principles, good or bad. The devil is not a go devil, as other religions have. God’s jealousy against other gods is fundamentally contradictory to anyone religious syncretism that promotes the spiritual flow of the New Age, that is, in all religion sis something divine and it is necessary to connect it, put it together and after all let the man choose what is for hi mall right. But here, man indirectly places himself at the level of God. “There is no Savior besides me!” Not even great personalities other religions Buddha, Confucius, Muhammad, Krishna are not savers, but they brought some light. Also, the sects or spiritual currents of the East do not respect the First Commandment when members obey the leader, respectively.To a guru to whom they give freedom and manipulate them. This is God’s jealousy that reveals to us, that\u00a0other gods are dummies. 2. God is also jealous of us, commanding us to love him with all his heart, all his soul and all his strength. (Cfr.Deut 6 Jesus himself described this as “the greatest and first commandment.” (Mt 22:38) Here we could say that God is#not that he enforces our love! But God is absolute perfection, nothing is missing, not even complete bliss and since there are also the Trinity, the Father is perfectly loved by the Son and the Holy Spirit and equally God does not need our love. If he commands us, it has a sense for us. And if it’s firsthand\u00a0greatest commandment, so there is nothing more important on earth that we should do than \u201clove God above all\u201dSt Irene Lyon writes in his work Against Delusions that \u201cGod created Adam in the beginning not because he was he needed a man, but to have whom to include adventures. (…) Nor did he need our ministry when he did. He commanded us to follow Him, but He wanted to give us salvation. \u201d(LH II, 41-42) God’s love is splendid, in His basically\u00a0it is expanding, it is infinitely creative, it “flows” and gives many beings … Love God is to be encompassed by the adventures of Him. Therefore, God is “allergic” when someone has these He seeks the benefit of \u201cother gods,\u201d the gods who are not and therefore cannot even bring them to him.
