uAfter the young man leaves,Jesus turns to his disciples and says.Truly I tell you,itt will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven.And then He used the striking image of the camel and the eye of a needle.
At first sight,these words may sounds like a condemnation of wealth.But Jesus is speaking about something deeper.The real danger is not possessing things.The danger is allowing things to possessus.A person can have very little and still be complete attached to it.Another person may posses much and yet remain generous free,and ready to share.The decive question is not simply.How much do I have? The deeper question is what has my heart?
This is why the image of the camel is so powerful.A camel carrying a heavy load cannot pass through tiny opening.In a similar way we cannot enter God’s kingdom while insting on carrying everything with.
Lord,free my heart from everything that separates me from you.Teach me to use what a possess without becoming possessed by it.Give me courage to surrender what You ask of me.And when following You seems to difficult,help me remember your promise.
