On the Mount of Olives- Jesus mortal anxiety
On the Mount of Olives – Jesus’ mortal anxiety
Masima–Marca 29, 2018
“He, though divine in nature, did not adhere to his equality with God, but renounced himself, took the nature of a servant, became human-like; and according to external appearances, he was considered human. He humbled himself, obedient to death, to death on the cross … ” (Flp 2,6-8)
After the establishment of the Altar Sacrament in which Jesus mystically sacrificed himself, the Lord and the Apostles sang praise and left the evening.
In the hall, they met Mary, Mother of Jesus with Mary Cleofas and Mary Magdalene. Pious women chased Jesus away from the road to the Mount of Olives because it was said that they wanted to capture him. But Jesus calmed them and went toward Olive Hill. I felt his soul very sad. As they walked through the valley of Jehoshaphat, Jesus spoke to the apostles in metaphors, but they did not understand what he was saying and attributed his special way of expression to fatigue.
It was dark when they arrived at Olive Mountain. The moon, though not yet full, illuminated the whole mountain and illuminated Jesus’ face and the faces of the apostles. With a worried expression, he said to them, “This night you will be offended by me and run away, for it is written,” I will strike the shepherd and scatter the sheep…. “
The apostles, who had been ruled by mental peace since the adoption of the Altar Sacrament, loved him affectionately and assured him of their devotion. Peter spoke to him more eager than the others: “Even if everyone is offended by you, I will never be offended!”
Sadly, Jesus said to him, “Indeed, I tell you this night, before the rooster sings two times, you deny me three times.”
But Peter did not give up and said, “Lord, even if I were to die with you, I will not deny you!”
That’s what everyone else said.
They crossed the bridge across the Cedric Creek and stopped in Gethsemane Garden. It was a place suitable for meditation and prayer. Sometimes it was used by people who did not have a garden to organize festivals and banquets.
The Garden of Gethsemane is vast, full of trees and flowers, surrounded by a fence. I also saw shelters from the rainy here. The apostles had the key to the garden. During the previous nights, Jesus resorted here with his apostles to teach them. This night, however, he went to pray in the Olive Garden, which is not far from there, bounded by a wall.
The Lord left the eight apostles at the entrance to Gethsemane and took only his favorites: Peter, James, and John. In the far corner of the garden, where there are small caves and plenty of olive trees, Jesus became very sad because he felt his hour approaching. The anxiety of that moment was clearly reflected on his face. Confused John asked, “Lord, how come you are so sad, you who have always comforted and humiliated us in the most difficult moments?”
He replied, “My soul is sad except for death!”
He looked around and saw clouds approaching with terrible images. Temptation approached them. His spiritual suffering began. Before he retreated into solitude to pray, Jesus said to the three apostles: “As long as I pray in the place I have chosen, you stay here and watch. Pray that you will not fall into temptation. Remember, the spirit is willing, but the body is weak! ”
When he said that, tormented by inner anxiety, he walked down a narrow path to a cave deep about six feet.
I saw monsters pushing into a cave where the Lord had prayed. Here, at the foot of the Mount of Olives, Adam and Eve mourned their sin. I saw our grandparents in the same place where Jesus had put His divine nature in the hands of the Holy Trinity and thus entrusted His innocent human nature to God’s righteousness. By this noble act of love, the Savior gave himself to the Father as a sacrifice for our sins.
He has seen all the sins of the world that men have committed since their first fall, in all their abomination. In endless grief, Jesus begged the heavenly Father to forgive people for their monstrous thoughts and insults, offering himself as the ultimate satisfaction.
The cave was crowded with ghostly images and images of fervor, bad habits and wickedness of the humanity. I saw the Savior surrender to his human nature and take on the shame of the world. Seeing the innumerable sins that Satan tirelessly overpowered him, he swallowed himself, exhausted and tormented.
Satan said to him, “What?”
His human side under the huge burden of our sins almost succumbed when a belt of very bright rays shone from heaven from the east. This came the multitudes of angels from heaven, whom the heavenly Father had sent to give his divine Son new powers. Jesus came to the limit of spiritual suffering, the weight of human sins weighed heavily on him and caused him terrible pain, while evil spirits mocked him and the demons screamed around him. Finally, despite the frightening visions, Jesus, reinforced by angels, took everything on himself. He loved God and people, victims of his own passion.
The devil ignored Jesus as the Son of God. He thought he was just a righteous man and tempted him in every way he did in the desert. Satan showed his holy soul his works of mercy as if they were sins against the world and against God. He tried to portray them as if they were of no value and as if they could not satisfy divine righteousness, even as if they were a cause of scandal and fall for many people.
As a hilarious Pharisee, Satan reproached him for the shortcomings and scandals caused by his apostles and disciples, the confusion they caused by disturbing old customs, and accused Jesus of causing the murder of innocents and the misery of his parents’ lives. He accused him of not healing a few sick and of not saving John the Baptist from death, and many other things.
Jesus prayed steadfastly, but he continued to be sweated with sweat and trembling. By allowing the devil to suffer him for the sins of the dead, especially those who were righteous and at the time of death even doubting their good deeds, he allowed his infinite mercy to prevail.
The incredible gratitude of the people to God had pounded the Lord’s wounds of soul and caused him great pain. Then he said to the Father, “Abba, Father! If possible, I will take away this hot cup! ” But then he added, “But let not you will be done, but you will!” Although his will was identical to that of the Father, Jesus’ human nature trembled before death. I saw his face mutilate and his lips went pale. He staggered out of the cave and went to the three apostles who were outside.
When he saw that they had fallen asleep, the weak and grievously exhausted Lord tripped and fell to the ground near them. Still surrounded by terrible visions, he slowly rose and said, “Why do you sleep? Couldn’t you watch for an hour? ‘Meanwhile, the three apostles woke up and, seeing the Lord breathless and sweaty, quickly got up and wanted to call the other apostles. But Jesus stopped Peter with the words: “Do not call others, I do not want them to see me like this because they would doubt me and fall into temptation. But you who have seen the Son of the glorified man can see him also in the darkness and abandoned. Watch and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak and sick. ” Jesus did not notice that his favorite apostles were afraid and anxious. After about a quarter of an hour, he returned to the cave. It was about eleven o’clock at night. The three apostles asked each other, “What is wrong with him? He is completely abandoned. ” They covered their heads and began to pray. Meanwhile, in Jerusalem, the Virgin Mary, Mary Magdalene, Mary Cleopas, Mary Salome and Salome left the diner for the house of Mary, Mark’s mother. They were all worried about Jesus, especially his Mother, who knew of Judah’s betrayal. With a heart full of anxiety, Jesus returned to the cave. He fell down his face and prayed to the heavenly Father with spread hands. The angels comforted him and showed him our grandparents in a state of holy innocence while they still wore God in their hearts, but also in a state where they were defiled by the fall.
The Savior saw the unspeakable suffering that his soul would have to pass through to redeem man from hereditary sin, which is the cause of all tribulation.
The angels showed him that he, the Son of God, is the only human being, free from sin, who can assume the debt of all mankind and overcome man’s resistance to suffering and death. His holy soul saw future suffering that would fall on his apostles, disciples and martyrs. The birth of the Church between shadows and light, heresy, schisms and all forms of vanity and shameful sins of the clergy.
The lukewarmness and wickedness of the many supposed Christians.
And also the disruption of the Kingdom of God on earth and the monstrous depictions of gratitude and abuse. With his martyrdom he renewed the commandments of saving love in the world and became a divine Savior for those who for centuries have sought to escape the hellish flame and come closer to God’s light. Mankind corrupted by sin was about to redeem himself with his own suffering. So he had to drink this bitter cup to become the “truth”, “gate” and “way” to the Father.I saw Jesus, who had a picture of human gratitude in front of his eyes, running down a drop of blood. Crowds of people stood before him who hated him and refused to carry the cross with him. He suffered for his Church, which he founded on a rock, and which the gates of hell cannot overcome. But the devil wanted to provoke him and asked him, “Do you really want to suffer for this amount of ungrateful people?”I saw crowds of enemies of my divine Bridegroom, fanatics, idolaters, enemies of the Church: blind, paralyzed, deaf, dumb, and even children.
They were blind because they did not want to see the truth, paralyzed because they did not want to follow the way of truth, they do not because they did not want to preach it to others, and deaf because they refused to listen to God’s admonition.
Children who grew without God, parents and teachers led to fickle knowledge of the world. I was most sorry for them because Jesus loved children the most.If I wanted to, I could talk for a very long time about how Jesus was offended by unworthy priests in the Altar Sacrament …I saw the angels pointing their fingers at the images they made themselves, but I couldn’t hear what they were saying. I only understood that they were very compassionate with the Lord’s suffering. Because of all these terrible sins, Jesus suffered so internally that blood flowed down his body. Simultaneously, I saw, together with Jesus, bearing the spiritual agony of the Virgin Mary. The Mother of God was still in the garden of Mary, Mark’s mother, and was comforted by godly women, especially the mistress of the house and the faithful Mary Magdalene. She fainted several times, her hands pleading toward the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus was also agitated about the suffering of his Mother. It was a compelling and moving look The other eight apostles, frightened and troubled by doubts, went to find a stash. The disciples were also troubled by uncertainty and wandered around Jerusalem, hoping to hear some news about Jesus.
It was almost midnight. Jesus continued his conversation with the Heavenly Father as the earth opened beneath him, and he found himself on an enlightened path that led to the limbo.
The Divine Master saw Adam and Eve, the old patriarchs, the prophets and the righteous, the parents of his Mother, John the Baptist, and a great crowd of priests, martyrs, blessed and saints of the future Church. They all had a winning garland on their heads, which they earned by their suffering and the constant struggle against evil. The splendor of such a victory was associated with the merits of his coming martyrdom. They surrounded him, encouraging him to complete the sacrifice of his blood, which is the source of the redemption and spiritual life of all people of good will. This gaze of the discouraged Jesus strengthened.
Then the angels showed him all the details of the torture that awaited him. Seeing himself hanging completely naked on the cross to sway for all human dishonesty, he begged the Father fervently to spare him from this immense humiliation. His prayer was answered and a compassionate man gave him his clothes.
After his vision of his martyrdom on the cross, angels also abandoned him. Exhausted, he fell to the ground as if dying. His body struggled with death and was shaking. The cave was lit by moonlight rays.
Suddenly, there was another light in the cave. It was the angel God sent. He wore a priest’s robe and carried a small chalice in his hands.
Hovering over the earth, he placed the chalice against Jesus’ mouth and then disappeared.
Thus, the Lord received the cup of His suffering, which gave him extraordinary strength.
He stayed in thankful prayer for a few minutes, then got up, wiped sweat from his face, and returned to the apostles. As he came out of the cave, I saw his pale and troubled face. She created deep compassion. I noticed, however, that his step was direct and certain. The moonlight and the splendor of the stars seemed much more natural to me.
Peter, James and John, exhausted by anxiety, slept again with their heads covered. Grieving Jesus called them and said that now is not the time to sleep, to get up and pray because the hour of truth has come. He warned them that he would go to his enemies without resistance. He begged to help his Mother and sympathetically commented on his traitor. But Peter exclaimed, “We will defend you! I’m going to call the others! ”
Jesus stopped him and pointed out into the valley, on the other side of the Cedron Creek, where an armed crowd approached in the light of the facade.
