Baptismal sermon

Dear parents and godfathers, Today, you wish for this child to be baptized. From today onwards, he will belong not only to you. It will also belong to God and the church community. It becomes God’s child.

The child will receive an example from your parents. Will it be good or bad?KE: In today’s Gospel, we have heard the words: “This is my beloved Son, in which I have the affection” (Mt 3.17)

DI: These words were from heaven during the baptism of Jesus Christ, who was baptized by John the Baptist. With the image of baptism, we meet already in the Old Testament. He’s located in the Book of Genesis. We meet there with the sign Noemi. Noah marks peace or brings joy. Noah was a very righteous and Godly man and tried to live according to God’s will. During Noemi, many people were departing from God; therefore, they decided to flood the world. However, God saved Noah and his family through the ark, in which they lived during the flood. The church sees a picture of salvation in Noah’s ark through baptism. In the end, only a few, eight people, were saved through water. At the end of the flood, Noah deleted the pigeon. The pigeon that exclaimed ‘Noah’ returns with a fresh olive in its beak, which means the ground is repopulated. When Jesus ascends from the water after his baptism, the Holy Spirit descends in the form of a dove and remains with him. Jesus Christ voluntarily received the baptism, which was determined by a sinner, to fulfil the words: “All that is fair” (Mt 3.15). Jesus’ proceedings are a visible manifestation of the renown. He also tells us that the apostle Paul, in the letter to the Philippians, said:

“He, although he has a divine nature, did not add his equality with God, but he humbled himself, took the nature of the servant, became similar to the people; And according to the external revelation was considered a man. “ (FLP 2.6-7) Baptism is the gateway to new life and the Kingdom. It is the first sacrament of the New Testament. Christ had appointed him for everyone to have eternal life and, together with the Gospel, entrusted him to the church, when the apostle identified the mission by saying, “go and teach all the peoples and baptize them for the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” Baptism is mainly a celebration of faith, which we, enlightened by the grace of the Holy Spirit, answer to the Gospel of Christ. By the fact that the baptism is in itself, we are in the church. Also, we are built into God’s shelter in the Holy Spirit into the Kingdom of the Holy People’s priesthood. Baptism is the sacramental bond of unity among all that he has marked us. After the sacrament of baptism, we strive to make the gift of faith in this child.

PAR: How do we, in the child, spread the gift of faith? For a child to have the gift of faith, you need Godly parents. For a short while, this child will be baptized and will be called the child of God, but before this act follows, faith and the rejection of the evil spirit. You, the baptizing parents, will now recognize the principle on which we are to baptize your child. A few years after they grow up and take the sacrament of confirmation, they will strive alone. Now and then, one of you takes on a somber role because you will be the first example for this child. You have to give a good example. By aligning your case with your faith, you will also build your child’s trust. If you provide a good example, even a child will be encouraged by you to live an exemplary life. If you see that you live a life according to the belief that you live in a matrimonial love, the sincerity with which you pray together, and you go to church. You approach the Catholic; do not worry; surely it will be an encouragement to him, and he will become a good man and a good Christian who will not be Ashamed to confess his faith in God and will spread it among people.

MY: about how we can issue an example for your child from the beginning of your Christian education shows us the life story of St. Augustine. His mother was a young Christian married to a pagan man. The whole family lived in a pagan environment. Since they had tried to instill a Christian upbringing and baptize them because they took care of the environment and the father, she thought that when the children grew up, they would decide, and the father would get better. Even though all the forces tried it, the influence of the father and the pagan environment was significant. The father turned the year before the end of life. According to the example, the wife became a Christian, and he was baptized as well. Other children did it later. Well, for Augustine, it was too late. The environment of the ancient pagan estates has been completely absorbed. He walked through and tried all the misery of this environment. Lies, street battles, the theft were on the daily order. And if they were already familiar with the drugs, they would not have been fired. Then he dies from the house against the will of the mother, to study the speech. It was all about creating the environment. His mother does not lose hope. The full eighteen years have been praying for him and bringing victims!

Until this initial seed was sown in him, he was not rebuked by his big teacher and speaker of St. Ambrose. And so just before the mother’s death, Augustine turned and was baptized. And this man, after his death, receives the Holy Patriot. And today, he is an insurmountable teacher. Sounds like a fairy tale. Finally, everything went well. This, however, was no fairy tale, but one pretty specific life story. And it seems that life has not changed since antiquity. From the example below, we see how important it is to give your child an example. Try also to include parents, the godfathers of this example.

ADE: To be able to give an excellent example to this child, we will plead God for help in this prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, we surrender to thy hand this child, who, for love, gives you a parent because they desire to be baptized in Jesus Christ. Give this child a belief that when it grows, it has proved to spread this belief to the end of his life. Also, help parents in their role to set a good example for this child.

 Amen.
